Title

Crystallization vs. Oxalic Acid Polishing: Floor Care Tech Talk

Description

This document, published by the 3M Building and Commercial Services Division, details two different methods for polishing marble. One, a method in which oxalic acid is used to chemically alter the surface of the marble, is very close to the process that could have been used by forgers on the Getty kouros. These kinds of polishing chemicals have been available since the 1960s, well before the Getty purchased the kouros. PDF file.
